Volunteering: however you do it, it all makes a difference.

We value every hour that a volunteer gives us as it’s helping someone else. Whether it’s sorting and hanging up stock, organising a fareshare delivery, planting and weeding in the garden or fixing something that has been broken by the clumsy centre manager, your contribution makes a real difference. And it’s not just with things we know about – sometimes volunteers approach us with ideas that they would like to get started and run. Something that they have seen is needed and would like to help with.

“What do you enjoy doing? Your answer to that question will go a long way towards what you end up helping us with. There’s so much to do at the Old Boat that we can usually manage to match you up with a role to suit you. You don’t have to  commit to a set time or number of hours – while there some roles and events that we need more help with than others, we understand that life can be unpredictable.

You can volunteer as a group or organisation as well – for example, we’ve been lucky enough to have been gifted time by The Good Gym, Legal
and General and Brighton College, among others.

So whether it’s you on your own, as part of a team or with a a group of friends, come and spend some time volunteering with us. If nothing else, it’s a good place to hang out pretending to be productive!
